In "Vogna: A Manifesto" Miles describes a vog by explaining all the aspects that make a vog. He makes sure to specify "a vog is not a reinvention of television." A vog is similar to blog in the vog respects bandwidth. A vog is personal and so is a blog. The difference between a blog and a vog is that a vog experiments with writerly video and audio. A vog lies between writing and the televisual. A vog explores the proximate distance of words and moving media. A vog is dziga vertov with a mac and a modem. A vog is a video blog where video in a blog must be more than video in a blog.
Miles first vog does live up to his explantation of a vog because it makes a personal message about cage animals and then he shows a picture of a child. I got the feeling he was trying to convey a message about animal cruelty. The vog also respected bandwidth which is important because inorder for a vog to effectivly convey the bandwidth to be fast so the vog is not choppy.
Each vog constructs video that supports Miles main idea. He does this by using a repetiton of similar images.
In Preshil Critters Miles use design elements such as text font, text color and balance. He uses a combination of video and written text to create a message about animal cruelty. He edited out the scenes of people changing out the animals in the cages because that information would be unnecessary and would have made his purpose seem less clear.
