Logo Assignment
I choose to design a logo for UTA. In this logo I incorporated colors associated with UTA and the Maverick mascot into the logo, so that way people could look at the logo and recognize UTA even before reading the text. I choose to arrange the letters with the T slightly higher and larger than the other letters because I wanted the logo to follow the pattern of the UT logo. I also felt that since UTA is a branch of UT by incorporating some of the aspects of their logo into this one it would help make the logo more recognizable. I used blue and orange for the Maverick because not only are those UTA’s school colors they also provide a nice contrast to each other. I choose blue as the main color of the horse because I wanted a color that would flow well with the green lettering. I experimented with the color of the horse and felt an orange Maverick would be too jarring. I used green instead of white text because I was afraid the white would be less visible. Also, green and blue compliment each other and help with the over all rhythm and harmony of the logo. I scaled the Maverick slightly larger than the text to give the logo an overall sense of balance. Even though my design was more elaborate than the original, I maintained simplicity by only using three colors and by choosing a less ornate font for my text.
